Message from the founder

There are still many people who suffer from hunger. It is still a challenge to access a proper meal for some people even though we have moved to another level of the pandemic. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, people's eating habits were challenged. The Golden Anchor Solid Rock Foundation is committed to combating hunger and malnutrition. Therefore, we assist and protect people, especially women and children living in fragile environments. Working with children and youth in these fragile settings is a challenge for us. The food price crisis makes it difficult for the elderly to eat a nutritional diet on a daily basis. Golden Anchor Solid Rock Foundation hopes to involve youth in the project.

Children project

Fighting hunger and malnutrition is one project of the Golden Anchor Solid Rock Foundation. The organization aims to put children at the center of the project.

The children received sweets and fruit. Thanks to our donor Food Forward SA for your continued support.
The needy children received school bags and school wear. Thanks to our sponsor PEPSA for your support.

Waste pickers and street dwellers

Waste pickers form an important part of the economy of the province. The organization provides a meal and a safe space to these people.

FLTR -The organization members took food to the waste pickers where they were sleeping in the first picture. In the second picture, the beneficiaries came to the house to collect food.

Projects

The women's day was an immense success. The beneficiaries thanked the team for the food and hygiene products.

The women in the picture are street dwellers.

Conferences, seminars, and workshops

The organization is committed to developing its employees. As a result of the first strategic planning meeting, the organization is looking into training and job creation opportunities for young women and men.
The office administration training was also very important since the staff needed to become accustomed to filling out forms

FLTR - The board members are busy with strategic planning. Second picture Gerald Louw attended an office administration practical session for Food Relief Alliance South Africa (FRASA) members.
 https://socialjustice.sun.ac.za/summit-conference-2021/

The board member who attended this summit found it to be informative. Among the topics discussed at the summit were economic power, economic redistribution, and maintaining human life. Social justice also implies looking at the most impoverished and marginalized populations. For meaningful engagement, "people who are affected must be involved."

Donors

The organization is thankful for people that invest in the organization. The project becomes a community project and people around the Suburbs are donating to the project. It received donations from the southern, northern, and central suburbs. The donations vary from money, clothes, and vegetables.

FLTR - Mr. Sedic Parker, Woodstock, handed over an R700 donation to the organization. Second Picture Mr. Errol Solomon, from Kuils River, donated clothes to the organization.
FLTR - Ceceline, from Mitchells Plain, donated a box eezeepaste nut and spices. Second picture Hester Bergh donated vegetables.

Publications

"Die son" published an article on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, about the school wear and bags the group distributed to needy children. This was made possible by a donation from PEPSA.

Strategic planning meeting

The board members of Golden Anchor Solid Rock Foundation were busy working on strategies on how to manage the organization. The organization currently running a feeding project for hopeless individuals. These individuals can include the waste pickers, street dwellers, vulnerable and the marginalized. The primary aim is to "is to restore lives and give hope to hopeless individuals." One objective derived from this aim is to give dignity back to these individuals. That includes giving them a nutritional plate of food. The individuals need a safe space to enjoy their food.

In the second phase, the organization looks at ideas and options on how to involve the beneficiaries in creating the safe space. What and how the beneficiaries can do themselves to create a safe space. The board members meet to discuss projects that will involve the beneficiaries and learn them to get away of sustaining themselves.

Volunteers help organization feed the needy.

The above pictures show how the volunteers are hard at work to make the organization work. In the first picture is one of the many volunteers who gather and donate empty containers to the organization. This initiative saves the organization a lot of money. In the process, these people also create a job for themselves. The organization in exchange gives them extra food.
In the second picture, the volunteer is preparing food for the organization. This also helps to save the organization time and money. In both instances, the community is taking ownership. They offer their services and resources to help feed the needy.

Sunday activity in feeding the street dwellers

The Golden Anchor Solid Rock team again prepared food for the needy. They did it with a donation received from FRASA Food Fund to make the cooked food. The beneficiaries identified for this African meal really appreciate it. We distributed the cooked food to our beneficiaries who stayed on the street and enjoy the African cuisine.
At home, where the soup kitchen is we created a safe space for the street dwellers to enjoy their food. The group that collects food from the house enjoys the bread and eezeepaste nut. It is a privilege to serve these people and to learn about their eating preferences.
The commonality is they all are facing hunger despite their cultural differences.
Any body who find it in their hearts to donate, please do so

Find ways to make life a better place

A woman walked through the door of the organization. She said I am here to talk to you, founder of the organization. This morning while I hanged my washing your name and the name of your organization came to my mind. I believe that this organization will achieve more and bigger things in the future. I saw what you are doing in the community. What you are doing needs strength and you must have the heart to serve the people on the street. Those are people that are discriminated against and they are also marginalized but your organization goes out and serves them.

She said I want to become a volunteer. I felt the need to serve the needy because I need to do this to get healing and to forgive those who harmed me. A few men attacked me years ago, but here I am today to serve those on the street because I don't know what happens to them and what is the reason for them to be on the street. The only thing for us to do is to be there when they need us. Thanks to this organization that gives me the opportunity to work on my healing process. We have to forgive and forget.

Meeting with local NPO leaders to discuss how to bring change

The leaders came together to discuss why they do what they do and how they try to bring change.
It was a very informative meeting and the leaders have the opportunity to meet each other and to learn what they are busy doing.

Gender Based Violence

On this International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/FGC); Afrihealth Optonet Association condemns the continuous practice of this harmful act of FGM anywhere in the world, by whosoever, for whatever reason.

We declare the FGM is avoidable gender-based violence (GBV) that brings ALL PAINS and no gain and must be totally eliminated/stopped the world over.
Say 'NO' to GBV. End FGM now.

Our 'Civil Society for Elimination of GBV' project, seeks to end FGM/FGC by 2030.
